Who are the greatest writers? Homer, Dante, Shakespeare, Cervantes, Montaigne, Swift, Puskin ... or the greatest film directors? Murnau, Dreyer, Bresson, Renoir, Lang, Mizoguchi, Tarkovskij, Kubrick ... everyone does it, it's an old game, which often becomes dangerous, controversial ...Some friends have asked me to do this old game: "Who are the 10 greatest pianists?" Well, is very difficult to limit to 10, but it's just a game. I'll hate myself for this ..finally, I excluded those great pianists of which there is no record evidence (Chopin, Liszt, Thalberg, Tausig, Henselt, Anton Rubinstein etc. ..)..well, now you can insult me....P.S.: the recordings presented here is not intended to represent the "best" of each pianist (impossible choice!) ...I have chosen to upload recordings not yet available on Youtube (in the case of Lhevinne, this was impossible)...
