One of the first double albums to ever be recorded, Blonde on Blonde was the last of Dylans trilogy of albums the other being Bringing It All Back Home (1965), and Highway 61 Revisited (1965) to widely be considered as his masterpieces a string of albums with qaulity and critical aclaim that very few other acts have been able to pull off. When Blonde on Blonde was released Dylan was at the height of his career.
