Religion in itself isn't bad; God's message isn't bad. It's how people make use of it that's problematic. Religion has given birth to more charities than you can count, and unites people even when it divides them. Sure, it has its harms, but it isn't evil. People might twist it to fit their evil works, but it doesn't mean that religion itself is evil.
