Gail Dalby wrote this song in 1983, inspired by hearing Maharishi Mahesh Yogi tell the story of the Seagull - a story told by his spiritual Master, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, Sri Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math. The message of the story stuck with Maharishi and was the basis of his more than 5 decades of his tireless efforts to Enlighten the world and relieve its suffering. The basic message was: Go ahead and persevere in what you know to be right, don't worry too much about the details, and Nature will support the pure and right desire.
