Ute Lemper performs "Die Moritat von Meckie Messer" (Ballad of Mack the Knife) in Ilona Ziok's internationally awarded musical film "Kurt Gerron's KARUSSELL" (world premiere: Berlin Film Festival, 1999). This famous song by Bertold Brecht & Kurt Weil was written for "The Three Penny Opera" and the first to sing it was Kurt Gerron, 1928. Other famous actors and musicians featured in Ilona Ziok?s bitter-sweet movie within the Berlin cabaret are Bente Kahan, Coco Schumann, Max Raabe, Ben Becker and Schall & Hauch.
