Ringo joked, "Why not use half an orchestra and record them twice?" George Martin thought a moment, and concluded that Ringo's idea was brilliant, overdubbing a 40-piece orchestra not twice, but five times! A film was made of the session, showing some of London's finest musicians wearing full evening dress... and all manner of Halloween masks, purchased by the Beatles' roadie Mal Evans at a nearby costume store.David Amram conducts The Magical Orchestra (sporting their own array of Halloween garb), and at the end, pianists Michael Schiano and Keith Hill belt out one of the most famous (and longest) piano chords in musical history. If you enjoy our not-for-profit Beatles live performances, PLEASE PLEASE help us continue our work by making a tax-deductible donation of any amount.
