Under the working title The Ballad Of John And Yoko (They're Gonna Crucify Me), the song was recorded at Abbey Road's Studio Three in a session beginning at 2.30pm and ending at 9pm. The Beatles began recording Oh! Darling properly at Abbey Road on 20 April. They recorded 26 takes of the rhythm track, with McCartney on bass and guide vocals, Lennon on piano, Starr on drums and Harrison on guitar. They also overdubbed a Hammond organ part, which was later wiped. On 26 April they recorded 32 takes of Octopus's Garden, with Starr on drums and guide vocals, McCartney on bass, and Harrison and Lennon on guitars. The Beatles began recording You Never Give Me Your Money on 6 May 1969. They laid down 36 takes of the song, which at this point ended abruptly immediately before the "One two three four five six seven" refrain. Her Majesty was recorded in three takes on 2 July, with McCartney singing live to his acoustic guitar accompaniment before the rest of the group began work on Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight. He recorded three takes, the first two of which were incomplete. Recording for Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight began while John Lennon was in hospital recovering from a road accident in Scotland. George Harrison played bass and Ringo Starr was on drums. Here Comes The Sun was recorded in 13 takes on 7 July 1969. Harrison played acoustic guitar and sang a guide vocal, McCartney played bass, and Starr was on drums. Harrison spent an hour re-recording his acoustic guitar part at the end of the session. Recording for Maxwell's Silver Hammer began on 9 July 1969. McCartney, Harrison and Starr recorded 21 takes of the basic track (although there were no takes 6-10), and spent over two hours overdubbing guitars. Recording for Something began properly on 16 April 1969. The Beatles recorded 13 takes, with George Harrison on guitar, Paul McCartney on bass, Ringo Starr on drums and George Martin on piano. Although John Lennon was in the studio on the day, he didn't play on the recording, which also featured no vocals. The Beatles began recording Come Together on 21 July 1969, recording eight takes in Abbey Road's studio three. John Lennon sang without his guitar, and clapped while singing the line "Shoot me". The Beatles began recording Sun King/Mean Mr Mustard as one on 24 July 1969. They taped 35 takes of the basic track: Lennon played rhythm guitar and sang a guide vocal, McCartney played bass, Harrison was on lead guitar and Starr on drums. The Beatles began recording Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window on 25 July 1969. They taped 39 takes of the basic track, which featured Lennon on acoustic rhythm guitar, McCartney on bass, Harrison on lead guitar and Starr and drums. Lennon and McCartney also sang guide vocals for the songs where needed. On Friday 1 August Lennon, McCartney and Martin taped 23 takes of Because, with Lennon on electric guitar and McCartney on bass. Ringo Starr added a basic hi-hat rhythm, but this was for guide purposes only and wasn't recorded.
