Another "Russian-exile" tango of early thirties, composed by Oskar Strok and recorded by Pjotr/Pyotr/Piotr Leschenko/Leshchenko/Leszczenko/Lescenko for British Columbia. To the middle part of the melody, the composer inserted a piece of the old Russian romance - "Otchi tchernye" - extrememly popular and once recorded by Pola Negri, a photo of whom and two labels of her records may be seen in the video.Pola was said to have "black eyes" which was not true, they were blueish-grey.
