Lewis Stone Orch. - Breakaway 1929
LEWIS STONE AND HIS ORCHESTRA play:BreakawayRecorded in St. Michael's Church Hall, Golders Green, LondonFriday 27th September 1929Personnel:Lew Stone -- piano, arranger, directorSylvester Ahola -- trumpetBill Shakespeare? -- trumpettrombone (unidentified)Arthur Lally -- alto sax, baritone saxJoe Crossman -- alto saxtenor sax (unidentified)Jack Hill -- banjoGeorge Senior -- brass bassMaurice Zafer -- drums, vibraphoneThis Duophone record from 1929 has been remastered by this user and is long out-of-copyright. This is a very rare record and I was fortunate enough to find in a shop in Glasgow when I was a teenager. Sadly some groove damage has developed due to rather strange process used in making the record, and there is groove damage around the point of Ahola's brief but fine solo where paper shows though. The sound quality varies throughout, but I think the rarity of this disc will excuse any discomfort in listening.
