Sergei Eisenstein's film is a classic of world cinema. The film is famous for a phrase which its authors put in the mouth of Alexander Nevsky:"Whoever comes at us with a sword will perish by the sword. On this the Russian land stands and will stand!"The story of the great prince and military commander's struggle against Teutonic knights and his great victory at the Battle of the Ice. The film was commissioned by the authorities in the run-up to the war against Fascist Germany. But the non-aggression pact was signed just after the film was released, and all copies were confiscated from the cinemas.
