Tony Joe White - Hoodoo (2013) Full Album
Tony Joe White - Hoodoo (2013) Full AlbumThe so-called "swamp rock" performer Tony Joe White was born on July 23, 1943 in Oak Grove, Louisiana. His musical career began in the mid-60s with performances in Texas clubs, and in 1968, the artist moved to Nashville, where he signed a contract with the firm "Monument".Already after the release of the first album, White burst into the charts and hit the top ten with the song "Polk Salad Annie", which became a classic of swamp-rock.Two other songs, "Roosevelt and Ira Lee (Night of the Moccasin)" and "Willie and Laura Mae Jones" also visited the charts, but the second is performed by Dusty Springfield. In 1970, White conquered Europe with the "cute" thing "Groupie Girl", and his overseas popularity was supported by the appearance at the legendary festival "Isle of Wight".In the same year, the song "Rainy Night in Georgia", performed by Brooke Benton, took fourth place in "Billboard".In the early 70s, Tony went to work for Warner Bros., but the three studio albums released by this company turned out to be a failure.During this period, interest in the work of White was maintained mainly due to covers: "For Ol 'Times Sake" and "I've Got a Thing About You Baby" performed by Presley and "Rainy Night in Georgia", sung by Hank Williams, entered Top 20 country charts. The second half of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s were sad for the musician: the albums "Eyes" and "The Real Thang" went almost unnoticed, and only on "Dangerous" are a couple of songs ("The Lady in My Life" and "We Belong Together ") had some success. After that, about six years, almost nothing was heard about Tony, and in 1989 he "surfaced" on Tina Turner's album "Foreign Affair", for which he wrote four things (including the hit "Steamy Windows"). From this point on, the musician’s career began to improve, and soon his new disc, "Closer To The Truth", appeared.Tony Joe White The album was very popular, especially in Europe, where White toured with Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker.Making a bet on the overseas market, Tony released there and two following opus, "The Path Of A Decent Groove" and rhythm-and-blues "Lake Placid Blues".In 1999, he decided to return to his roots and wrote down “One Hot July” in his swampy Louisiana. The album was greeted very warmly and was accompanied by a successful tour of Europe and Australia. Seeing that things were going well, Tony decided on experiments and did not lose.In 2001, he released his own label, The Beginnings, on his own label "Swamp Records", which received the "top five" in music publications in many countries of the world. It was followed by a collection of duets with female vocalists "The Heroines", and in 2006 a new studio studio "Uncovered" was released, in the creation of which stars such as Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Michael McDonald, JJ Cale and Waylon Jennings took part.Musician Tony Joe White died in the USA at the age of 76. The musician died on Wednesday, 24. 10. 2018, at his home in Tennessee----✧ Fira ✧---
