On January 4, 2017, 50 years to the day of the release of The Doors eponymous debut album, Los Angeles city councilman Mike Bonin honored the band by declaring January 4 henceforth be known as "The Day Of The Doors." John Densmore and Robby Krieger were present to accept the honor. Members of the Manzarek and Morrison families also attended the celebration.
