Полная версияHeart diseases in general and the dilated Cardiomyopathy in particular are -- besides stomach torsion and cancer - one of the most common causes of death of Great Danes, which has a very low average life expectancy of only about 6,5 years. Although this is well known for many years already, the two German VDH-breed clubs for the Great Dane „Deutscher Dogen Club (DDC)" and „Kynologische Gesellschaft für Deutsche Doggen (KyDD)" have not taken measures yet (until the finalization of this film) to reduce the prevalence of DCM in their population. The veterinary cardiologist and president of the Collegium Cardiologicum (a renowned association of specialized vets for cardiology in Germany) Dr. Jan-Gerd Kresken has published in October 2012 his study about heart diseases in Great Danes. It's the biggest study worldwide about this breed with almost 400 Great Danes having been screened for over more than six years. 30% of these Danes had a positive result, and 90% of those were diagnozed with DCM. In this film the renowned cardiologist Dr. Kresken explains all the important details and scientific news about the dilated Cardiomyopathy. The Great Dane breeders Anja and Jörg Kiefer tell about their painful experiences with four diseased dogs. And the veterinary cardiologist Dr. Petra Kattinger illustrates the procedure of a heart ultrasound and why this examination is so important for both breeders and private Great Dane owners. This is the international version with English subtitles of a film originally produced in Germany by Dane lovers for Dane lovers. It's a non budget production and most of the work was done by the director herself, including the subtitles. They were translated with great diligence and hopefully they are understandable and without any greater mistakes. This film was authorized by Dr. Kresken before it has been published. The film is supposed to be spread over the whole globe for non-commercial reasons and as a whole. Please feel free to share it on facebook, on your homepage, blog or internet forum!!!Also Doberman Pinschers are affected with DCM, watch their film here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL4wuv26068
