@PointeChronicles • Sister Act 💃🏽💃🏽 ft. @ShanRaqs ♥️ My big sister Shannon, (aka Shan), is a very, very, very special woman and I would not be here without her. She and I have been partners in crime since before I could walk and share the deepest kind of bond I have ever known. Like me, Shan’s roots are in classical ballet and she is actually the one who took me to my first official ballet class. After leaving dance behind to pursue her life as an athlete, she found her way back to her true passion as a performer through the art of belly dancing and is now a working professional. She also created a belly dance inspired workout called @RaqShimmy, which seamlessly blends her love of fitness and belly dance. She is one of the most motivating and empowering women I know and yesterday after she kicked my ass in class, we found the strength to keep going and choreographer this little sister act together because it’s something we’ve been envisioning for many years. Proper belly dancing technique, like ballet, is quite difficult, and takes a lifetime to master. Though I’ve got a lot more to learn from my sis, yesterday we were only concerned with shimmying our hearts out side by side, so that’s what we did. From ballet to belly dancing, the universal language of dance has the power to bring humans together in a very sacred way. Thank you Shannon for teaching me about belly dancing and about life.
