On April 16, 1999, Sri Chinmoy was named "Messenger of the Millennium" by the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York, where he was invited to perform a concert and give a talk entitled "The New Millennium And World Peace". Sri Chinmoy was also made an honorary member of Theta Alpha Kappa, the National Honour Society for Theology. In this lecture, Sri Chinmoy offers an optimistic vision of humanity’s future and how we can overcome the mistakes of the past and give greater importance to love, light and God.
