Olonets provinceThe present cathedral was constructed on the site of a previous woodn cathedral of the 16th century. The cathedral was built in 1695-1698 and was modelled on the Znamensky Cathedral in Novgorod.Initially the cathedral supported five domes, but the outer 4 were dismantled during the 187th century.
